August fuelled with coasteering, sea kayaking and duke of edinburgh! Happy days :-)

Blessed with incredible weather throughout the entirety of August the team at Reach Outdoors have been operating every day, delivering a range of adventurous, educational, and qualification based outdoor activities.

It has been fantastic seeing so many smiles, hearing so much laughter and having so many ‘excellent’ trip advisor reviews, clearly reflecting the experience had by all.

This month has seen an influx of Scouts, Explorer Scouts, and Girl Guide groups, who have graced the beautiful Dorset and Devon coastline for their summer adventures. Many of these groups chose kayaking and coasteering with Reach as their ‘buzz’ activities and the highlight of their weeks. Some of the support, team work, and general looking out for one another within these sessions from young people has absolutely blown us away; not to mention the amazing home-made cake and tray bake spread put on by a group from Cardiff.

It has been a perfect month for holiday makers to capture a vision of how stunning parts of the UK can be when the sun shines, the water glistens, seals pop up and dolphins explore the warm coves. On several occasions many small groups have joined to share their activity with others and ended up leaving together, to grab a drink or an ice cream and catch their breath from the experience they have all just shared. This joining of small groups has enabled many families and friendship groups to experience something that is usually only available to large groups; something we’re proud of.

A few stag parties thrown in the mix, bringing their Borat masks, tutu’s and mankini’s to try their hardest to make sure it’s the stag do to remember. All managed to survive what might have seemed a slightly jaded head from the night before, and leave the session fully revitalised and refreshed, ready for another night of shenanigans.

Alongside all of this Reach Outdoors has seen its first Duke of Edinburgh dold sea kayaking expedition candidates pass. They had incredible weather for all elements of this venture and worked really well as a team, a big well done to each of you, it’s a fantastic achievement! A message was received from one of the candidates a few days after which in essence captured what the Reach team aim to do;

“Just to let you guys know, I’ve been accepted onto an Outdoor Adventure Leadership & Management BSc (Hons) degree at Worcester University! Thanks for giving me the inspiration I need to go and do something I truly enjoy:-)”

The first event where Reach Outdoors had a promotional stand was a good experience where some good leads for future programs arose, and generally making contacts within the local community. Two lucky people won coasteering vouchers on our free to enter challenge that engaged visitors to the Shoreline Events show to our stand.

All in all, an amazing month that has been jam packed with creating awesome memories.
