BLOG-A-DOODLE

Well it’s suddenly the middle of November; where has the year gone?! We hope that you all had as fantastic a summer as us. We thought we should take the time to share with you what’s been going on in the world of Reach. There’s a lot that has been happening for us so far this year, so here’s a summary.

The Reach Team are incredibly proud that we were awarded Gold for Tourism Activity, Sport and Experience of the year at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards hosted at The ‘Palazzo’ at Highbullen Hotel Golf & Country Club, Chittlehamholt. It was a fantastic and very special evening for us and demonstrates the appreciation from our customers of the hard work we have put in, and the passion we share for what we do. We were also awarded Bronze at the South Devon Tourism and Hospitality awards hosted at the Palace Hotel in Torquay, which again was an incredibly inspiring evening. Keep an eye out for how we get on in the Regional Awards.

Reach Outdoors have progressed in the world of business, and now operate from an awesome HQ based at Goodrington Sands in Paignton, arguably one of the nicest and most popular beaches in Torbay. This offers us incredible sea views, has ample parking, public toilets and allows our kayak tours to depart direct from our HQ to explore the stunning coastline and coves.

We have a shiny new addition to our ‘fleet’, which offers 16 seats and a luxury way to sit back and travel to your activity location whilst admiring the South Devon scenery and listening to some good tunes on the radio (unless Ash is your driver and you will get radio 4). The first group to travel in our mini bus named it Herbie and this name has stuck!

New products that have developed over this year – 2 day, 1 night Kayak expedition with wild camp, Devon Bay Adventure weekends in conjunction with Hoburne Holiday Park, Wild Adventure Residential with the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, and Bushcraft now offered to our stag groups as a part of the accommodation package.

We were super excited in the summer to launch our new video advertising our multi activity packages to schools and youth groups. It took lots of discussion, lots of filming and lots of editing from our film maker Carlton to reach the final product which we were really pleased with. If you haven’t seen this then it features on the homepage of our website www.reach-outdoors.com.

The successful delivery of several Duke of Edinburgh Gold and Silver expeditions either on foot or sea kayak has been brilliant. Lots of happy young individuals who have all completed and passed all sections of their expedition with Reach Outdoors. We have just launched our new multi activity Residential week for Gold Duke of Edinburgh candidates, with interest already being received.

As of January 2015 we have appointed our first full time position as Programme Manager to Phil Sanders who brings a great amount of energy and experience to the team. We are really excited to have him join us in the office.

Watch this space for: The development of Stand Up Paddleboarding for summer 2015.

If you have any queries for Reach Outdoors, or have an idea of a package you think we might be able to help you with, then please do get in touch with us on info@reach-outdoors.com

Until next time,

The Reach Team
