A step closer to the outdoors.

A step closer to the outdoors.

Jamie, Coral and Tom (our 2018 apprentices) have completed the training course element of their apprenticeship. They will now be working to consolidate their training and hard work, by assisting the instructors to deliver to all our customers in many activities offered by Reach outdoors.

The trio started in early March. Over the past two months they have completed many outdoor qualifications including BC paddle sport instructor award, RYA power boat level 2, MIAS level 1, BMC climbing wall instructor award training and Coasteering Guide training, along with outdoor first aid qualifications, and many more industry-based qualifications.

When asked; Coral’s favourite training course was coasteering, and MIAS (mountain biking) was the most challenging. Toms favourite was also coasteering, and most challenging being CWI (Climbing), however Jamie’s favourite course was the CWI (climbing) but also found the MIAS (mountain biking) the biggest challenge.

The three of them are all looking forward to working with customers and alongside the staff team this season. They are most excited about assisting on coasteering and stand up paddle boarding sessions; however keen to help on all the activities that Reach Outdoors deliver.

Throughout the season the trio will be observed by senior Reach Outdoors staff and their college lecturers. Over the season the apprentices will have to complete tasks relating to the outdoors that they will be able to complete throughout their employment with Reach Outdoors.

Although the training course part of their apprenticeship is behind them their learning won’t stop. With senior Reach Outdoor staff mentoring their progression along with other tasks from the college, these three are just at the start of the exciting journey into the outdoors.
