Instructor Profile: Luke

Instructor Profile: Luke

Luke is our resident action man, because he does it all and looks good doing it.

At the relatively young age of 23 Luke has accomplished a great many of industry qualifications and experience, but it all started at college where Luke completed a Btec Level 3 and then on to an apprenticeship in outdoor adventure at Haven Banks in Exeter.

At Haven Banks Luke gained some essential qualifications covering above and below ground, Land and Sea (Climbing Wall Award, Single Pitch Award training, Cave Leader training, Mountain Leader training and British Canoe Union Level One coach). During this time Luke also worked with Btec groups, school groups and degree level students.

From there he went on to work for Dynamic Adventure where alongside running adventure expeditions here in the UK and faraway places such as Slovenia and Italy Luke also completed qualifications by getting assessed as a Mountain Leader (ML) and outdoor Climbing Instructor (SPA) along with progressing in paddle sport as gaining white water safety and rescue (WWSR) and 4-star canoe.

Luke Joined the Reach Outdoors team in 2017 as an Instructor for the season but stayed with us to run our climbing wall over winter then returned this season as a Lead Instructor, taking on greater reasonability and leading on large NCS residentials along with established products.

Again, alongside these busy seasons Luke continues to develop him self and compete further qualifications in many different disciplines, these include the BC Stand-up Paddle module, 3-star sea kayak, Coasteering and complete Climbing Wall Leader Award training.

Outside of work Luke can often be found at any one of the local crags honing his skills and progressing further within the sport on climbing, even setting first ascents (never before climbed routes) along with paddle boarding and kayaking.

Luke is always super active and keen to pass his passion for the outdoors on to our clients and staff alike. Luke has been key in the mentoring of junior and apprentice staff and a solid member of the growing team. Luke really does live up to the Reach Outdoors motto of "live for adventure".
