Hard work paying off

Hard work paying off

During the last week the team at Reach Outdoors were delighted to have been awarded not one but two tourism awards. The first was a Silver award for Active and sporting experience award in the Devon tourism awards. Tourism businesses across Devon were awarded in 26 different categories that saw each having to undergo a rigorous three-phase judging process. In what is the 9th year of the Devon Tourism Awards it is a true honour that since first entering Reach Outdoors 5 years ago, we have been a finalist each year and awarded 3 silvers and 2 golds.

The second was in the South Devon’s Tourism and hospitality Awards in the category of Tourism Experience / Sporting Activity of the Year and we were delighted to have also been awarded Silver, coming a close second to Paignton Zoo. The English Riviera awards are judged by a panel of judges, mystery shopper visits (taking part in activities), assessing our online presence along with a written application. As the mystery shopper feedback is a key factor in winning any of the awards it is a great indicator of our consistently high standards as it is based on a genuine Reach experience. This is our 5th award at the ER Awards, receiving 1 bronze back in 2014 and 4 silvers since. We are going for Gold next year!

All the Awards are given out on a great evening that recognises everyone’s hard work (we also get a very nice meal and a chance to put on a posh frock), but what is always at the forefront of the events is the celebration of the south west and how here in Devon (and the English Riviera) we are making great efforts to promote our stunning county and all the beauty it has to offer in many different ways, from hotels, dog friendly cafes to activities and attractions.

Being a small business within Devon it is always exciting to see and hear about all the other amazing things that are happening around our local and county areas. As well as reflecting on all the good that goes on, the awards encourage us to continue to push boundaries and promote excellence in Devon to ensure that our our visitors return year on year seeking new and exciting adventures.
