Outdoor First Aid is an essential 2 day course for anyone working in the outdoor, remote and rural industry/ settings away from immediate assistance (more than 30 mins) in the UK.

It is suitable for workers in rural and remote settings and will maintain the license to practice for those with Outdoor National Governing Body Instructor awards. This is the course or choice for experienced outdoor practitioners. This Level 3 course meets the requirements of the Institute for Outdoor Learning Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid Training at Band 3.

First Aid at Work is a very popular 3 day course as it is relevant for everyone across all industries within a low hazard workplace. Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose.

Successful completion will result in the knowledge and skills that have been identified by the HSE for the management of emergency incidents and the treatment of illness and injuries in the workplace

Emergency First Aid for Schools and Colleges is a very popular 1 day course as it is relevant for everyone within the primary (over 5 year olds), secondary or further education sector. If your sector works with under 5s then a Paediatric First Aid course is required. We can bolt on the Emergency Paediatric first aid to the Emergency First Aid for Schools and Colleges course. We also offer a 2 day Paediatric First Aid course.

This qualification indicates an individual can undertake the role of First Aider in a school or college environment that may have been identified by a workplace risk assessment, and can be relied upon by employers to satisfy the due diligence requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for first aid training providers. The requirements for Forest School first aid can be met by completing an ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid. 

However many groups prefer or require specialist and tailored training involving infants for instance, with a tailored, contextualised approach to content often mixing elements of infant/child/adult training as determined by the group.  This training course is designed to provide that flexibility.

Delivery

Topics include; roles & responsibilities, adult/child/infant specific treatments, dealing with collapse (with and without breathing), choking, bleeding, shock, major illnesses, torso and limb injuries, environmental effects, heat and cold injuries, using first aid kit, outdoor specific scenarios, outdoor incident management and looking after a casualty for more than 10 minutes.

This course is designed to provide outdoor incident management skills.  Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical, with elements occurring out of doors in outdoor clothing and on various terrains.

Training requires

• Minimum tutor contact time of 16 hours (excluding breaks)
• 1:12 tutor to learner ratio
• Course must be completed within 9 weeks of starting
• Each delivery session must be a minimum of 2 hours
• Successful completion will result in learners gaining a Forest School First Aid (ITC) certificate.
• The qualification is revalidated by attending another similar course after 3 years

Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a very popular 1 day course for workers caring for children in the absence of their parents, or for parents/guardians who just want some basic first aid knowledge to care for their child.

This qualification indicates an individual can undertake the role of first aider in a position that has responsibility of caring for infants and children. It may also have been identified as necessary by a workplace risk assessment.

The qualification will benefit all who spend time in the early years environment and with pre-puberty children.
