winter training starts with maps
15 November 2019 by Richard Hanbury
Winter is the season when the whole world seems to go to sleep, or at least hide from the cold weather. The ground is hard, and the trees and plants seem to be dead. Since there is little else to do, we take this time to train.
This training season started with lots of maps for a coastal navigation course hosted at our centre in Paignton and then took to the cold seas for a sea kayak leader that would enable more of our instructors to lead kayak expeditions and venture further on kayak tours.
We then kept to the water but swapped sea with rivers and some white-water training and rescue courses taking place.
Alongside the above, our team of apprentices head back into the classroom to add to their theory and knowledge as well as having working days on indoor climbing walls and water sports.
