Over the peak summer season, a key part of our business is our kayak and paddleboard hire from Goodrington South Sands Beach. Reach Outdoors are recruiting for a Watersports Hire Supervisor to join our team for the 2022 season. The role requires great customer service, flexibility, and some management responsibilities. Day-to-day, you’ll be running the watersports hire operations including safety cover, liaising with our core staff and overseeing our hire assistants on the beach. With this year being our 10th Anniversary of Reach Outdoors, we are expecting this to be our biggest and best summer yet!

This role is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to spend their summer outside, engaging with members of the public and providing a safe and fun watersports experience for all to enjoy. We can provide training for the safety cover element of the role, but some experience of kayaking and/or paddleboarding would be helpful. The role will involve manoeuvring of craft and being outside for a lot of the day, so a suitable level of fitness is required.

Role: Watersports Hire Supervisor

Hours: Guaranteed 24 hrs/week with the opportunity to increase to 40 hrs/week (depending on the weather). Weekend availability is necessary.

Term: May –September

Pay: £9.90-£10.50 per hour dependent on experience.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Reach Outdoors Watersports Hire at Goodrington South Sands Beach. This includes:
  • Interacting with clients, taking bookings, and giving clients a safety brief.
  • Ensuring all aspects of health & safety of the Watersports Hire Operation are always adhered to.
  • Cash up takings and create invoices
  • Day-to-day management of the Hire Assistants (approx 2-4 on a given day)
  • Providing safety cover for the Watersports Hire Operation (training can be provided)
• Provide an exceptionally high level of customer service to all that use Reach Outdoors Services.
• Provide informal local information to visitors to Goodrington Sands.
• Assisting the core Reach Outdoors team with adhoc centre tasks.

Essential Requirements:

• Aged 18 years or over
• Customer Service experience
• Ability for flexible working, including weekends

Desirable Requirements:

• Previous Watersports Hire Operation Experience
• Experience in kayaking and paddleboarding on the sea
• RYA Powerboat Level 2
• British Canoeing Safety & Rescue Awards, Kayak or Paddleboard Leadership or Coaching Awards
• RLSS Beach Lifeguard Qualification
